SO YOU WANT TO BE A MODEL?

Have you got what it takes to be a model? Do you even know where to start to make your dream come true?

WHERE DO I START!

A good agency will market you as a model in South Africa and abroad and will be 100% behind the model. But also be brutally honest - remember it’s a business not a charity. If they reject you, don’t take it personally and move on. The model industry is not about how you look on film and ramp. Only a small percentage of the population has THAT look. If you don’t have it, try character casting agencies, they normally take all shapes and sizes.

THE FIRST STEPS

Call agencies and ask what their requirements are. You’ll probably need to send in some clear photos and your measurements (be honest). You don’t need professional pictures at this stage. Clear photos or polaroids taken with no make-up are the best. Different agencies favour different  “looks” so although one agency turns you down, another may snap you up. Exceptions do occur, but as a rough guide for fashion work,  girls should be aged 15-21, be at least 1,7m tall and size 8-10 with clear skin. Guys should be 1,8m tall and can be a bit older.
